THE J. JONAH JAMESON THAT WE KNOW

Like many people I was aware of JJJ through the Tobey's Spider-Man films. He is a very interesting character. He is unlovable but he is also hard to truly hate.

He is not a proper villain, but he isn't a hero either. He makes Spider-Man's life impossible. He isn't that kind to Peter either (expect when Peter gets great photos for the Daily Bugle).

A GLIMPSE OF A DEEPER J. JONAH JAMESON

The real depth of his character is something that hasn't been explored in films yet. Therefore not many people have witnessed the true depths of this character.

The first moment of JJJ’s true depth is found in the "Amazing Spider-Man 1962" (The original comics by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko). There's a moment of vulnerability that forever changed the way I saw JJJ. Here it is”

in this moment we see true self-awareness. From a man in power that becomes a victim of his own jealousy and recognizes it. This is the depth of JJJ that we haven't yet seen in the films.

THE REAL DEPTH OF J. JONAH JAMESON

Thankfully there's a man by the name of Chip Zdarsky that wasn't afraid to explore the depth's of JJ. Chip masterfully explores JJJ in an amazing new comic book called "Spider-Man: Life Story Annual (2021) #1" which is a continuation of one of the best Spider-Man comic series I've ever read "Spider-Man: Life Story" made up of 6 issues (this is something to explore in depth another day)

In this incredible story JJJ goes to jail. He was guilty of creating a villain by the name of Scorpion. This originally happened in the 1963's Spider-Man series on issue #20

before reading the comics I barely knew who Scorpion was, and I had no idea that JJJ actually had a part in creating a powerful villain for Spider-Man. This is where his jealousy truly crosses the line.

In "Spider-Man: Life Story Annual (2021) #1" JJJ spends his days in prison, still full of hate for Spider-Man, but as years pass and he gets older we see something new in him. This story is truly worth reading if you ever wanted to know JJJ, it’s a great story worth reading!

Since I decided to get deeper into the world of comics I found myself lucky to live in a time where you can find so many great comics digitally.

I haven’t explored many services yet, but for now I’m really happy reading comics in the Marvel Unlimited app, all the comics I mentioned here are there, highly recommend it if you've always wanted to learn more about the history if this amazing characters. I’m not sponsored by Marvel Unlimited (I wish I was) so definitely explore to see if you find other good ways to read comics, but so far my experience has been really good with this app.
